A HISTORY OF THE SHIP’S STORE . . . . .<\/em><\/h2>\n

Before there was an actual Ship\u2019s Store on the beach next to JJ\u2019s Cantina, each Chapter (Tucson, Cholla Bay and Phoenix) of the CBSC had their own portable Ship’s Store. Volunteers would buy and store items and faithfully haul them to each of the monthly meetings.\u00a0 Some of the items that were sold at that time were, License Plates and frames, jackets, pins, pennants, as well as Derby Clothing just to name a few. Ship\u2019s Store was and still is a major fund raiser for the club.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Cholla Bay Chapter was managed by Betty Horton.\u00a0 She would keep all of the merchandise in the storage area in the Radio Shack building and during the annual Fishing Derby days she would unpack everything, set it up for display and \u201csell\u201d away!\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Eventually in May 2000, two CBSC volunteers: \u00a0Nancy Schmidli and Pat Goodin took over the Ship\u2019s Store.\u00a0 The store officially moved to the building which it occupies presently thanks to Nancy and Pat.\u00a0 Again with the help of more volunteers, the building was given a fresh coat of paint and a few repairs and the Ship\u2019s Store was open for business.\u00a0 In 2015 Pat Goodin recruited three more CBSC volunteers, BK Arnold, Barb Baird and Marlene Blair to take over the operation of the store.\u00a0 We love all of or \u201cVolunteers\u201d!\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

If you haven\u2019t been to Ship\u2019s Store, you should visit us soon, especially during fishing derby weekends and see the large selection of T-shirts, sweats, tide calendars \u00a0and lots of other great items, too many to mention. The store is open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm during the fishing derbies, and from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on other Saturdays. \u00a0When you come to Ship\u2019s Store, bring snacks and a drink. \u00a0Plan on sitting for a while! \u00a0Who knows maybe you too can become a “Porch Lady” as we are affectionately referred to! We\u2019re always open for you when you need us. Our phone numbers are posted in the window at the store. Just give one of us a call and we will open for whatever you might need. And of course, we are open on all derby days.<\/p>\n
